Yaki-Iro Chopstick Rests: A Colorful Celebration of Glaze and Craft

Information

Hello from a sweltering Mizunami, where I spent last weekend working both Saturday and Sunday because it was simply too hot to do anything else. It’s 30°C in our office again today—despite the air conditioning supposedly running!

First, a quick notice:
Yamani will be closed for summer holidays from **August 13 to 18**.
Our next product update will be on **August 19**.
Please check our [holiday announcement](https://www.yamani-web.com/summer-close-2025/22072) for details.

Now, on to this week’s featured product:

This Week’s Pick: Yaki-Iro Chopstick Rest – Double Glaze

Yaki-Iro Series

Say hello to the latest from **Miyama**, one of our favorite local makers.

Yaki-Iro Series

This new chopstick rest features a unique *three-tone* finish created through a layering of two glazes.

Yaki-Iro Series

Personally, I’m in love with the **Sky & Sakura** glaze combination—soft, charming, and full of character.

These rests are made using the *kakewake* (glaze separation) and *nurwake* (color blocking) techniques.

Yaki-Iro Series

This one here is done with **copperplate transfer** printing.

Yaki-Iro Series

This one uses **overglaze decal transfer** (in-glaze style).

Yaki-Iro Series

And this one is designed using glaze brushing.

Yaki-Iro Series

This last style is a combination of glaze and copperplate transfer techniques.

As you can see, the **Yaki-Iro series** showcases a variety of traditional Japanese ceramic decoration methods. Each item feels slightly different when held in your hand—a real joy to explore in person.
