It’s been a while, but we finally have a new release from the beloved SHICHITA series!
Choju-giga Cat Small Plate – Mino Ware
The design is inspired by Choju-giga (The Scrolls of Frolicking Animals), considered Japan’s oldest manga.
Naming this was a bit of a challenge… technically, “Choju” means “Birds and Beasts.” While there are zero birds in this collection, we decided to name it “Choju-giga Cats” anyway. Please forgive the lack of feathered friends—the cats took over!
The balance between the classic, ink-wash aesthetic of the scrolls and the playful feline illustrations is just perfect.
There are five different designs in total, and honestly? Each one is more charming than the last.
